Severe Weather and Heavy Rainfall in the Midwest and Desert Southwest; Mid-Summer Heat Continues

Severe thunderstorm and heavy rainfall are possible in the Midwest into the Central Appalachians and the Desert Southwest early this week. Storms are also expected in parts of the northern Plains today. Fire weather and air quality concerns will persist across portions of the West. .DISCUSSION...
Unsettled weather will persist throughout this week with daily 
chances of showers and thunderstorms, especially during the 
afternoon and evening hours. The air mass will remain humid 
with relative humidity values staying elevated. Winds may gust 
a little later this afternoon from the northwest across the 
mountains. Shower and thunderstorm coverage will increase on 
Tuesday and Wednesday with gusty winds and heavy rainfall 
possible. Due to the abundant moisture and prolonged chances of 
rain, fire weather concerns will remain low.
