Thunderstorms and Heavy Rains Across Portions of the Central and Eastern US; Heat Expands to Portions of the East

Widespread showers and thunderstorms, some severe, may produce heavy downpours and flash flooding across much of the eastern and central U.S. Dangerous heat will continue in the Pacific Northwest and expand across portions of the East. Another, more defined tropical wave will move across the region tomorrow, leading to an increase in shower and thunderstorm activity. At the same time, hot temperatures, elevated humidity levels, and southeasterly winds will contribute to a heightened heat risk, particularly across the lower elevations and urban areas of Puerto Rico through the end of the week.
