Thunderstorms and Heavy Rains Across Portions of the Central and Eastern US; Heat Expands to Portions of the East and West

Widespread showers and thunderstorms, some severe, may produce heavy downpours and flash flooding across much of the eastern and central U.S. Dangerous heat will continue in the Pacific Northwest and expand across portions of the East. [Jul 16th] Today's weather conditions: Showery conditions with the approach of a tropical wave. Elevated flood risk in PR during the afternoon and limited across the USVI. Breezy conditions leading choppy marine conditions across all local waters and passages. Hot conditions in coastal and urban areas where rainfall remains limited during peak hearing hours.
[July 16th] There is a moderate risk of rip currents along northern, eastern and southeastern beaches of PR, Vieques, Culebra and USVI. Beachgoers must exercise caution due to possible life-threatening rip currents along these areas; it's recommended to always swim near a lifeguard and remember to heed the advice of flag warning systems.
