Heavy Rainfall and Flooding Concerns in the Southwest; Coastal Low to Impact the East Coast

Deep tropical moisture will lead to widespread showers and thunderstorms capable of producing flash flooding through early next week over the Southwest and Four Corners. A coastal storm is expected to impact the southeast U.S. coast and mid-Atlantic regions with flooding, dangerous rip currents, gusty winds and heavy rain up much of the East Coast through early next week. [OCT 11] Tropical Storm Jerry will continue moving away from the northeastern Caribbean today, but higher-than-normal moisture will linger through at least early Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms from Jerry’s outer bands will continue across local waters. Some activity may move over the U.S. Virgin Islands and southern and eastern Puerto Rico under southerly winds, keeping the flood threat elevated. Stay informed at nhc.noaa.gov and weather.gov/sju.
