System Upgrade The National Weather Service in Topeka, KS will be conducting a required, scheduled update to their Advanced Weather Interactive Processing system (AWIPS) from June 16nd through June 18th. During the time of the update, forecasts operations will be conducted by our back-up office in Wichita, KS to minimize any potential interruption to services. No impacts to our core services of forecast products and weather watches, warnings and advisories are expected during this period. The NWS Topeka (KTWX) radar will remain operational and its products will continue to be distributed as normal. The NWS Topeka office will remain open and staffed at all hours throughout this update period to answer public and partner phone calls, and additional functions that can be completed while our AWIPS is upgraded. During periods of planned or unplanned outages it is important to have multiple ways to receive warning information. These alternative sources include: local television/radio, and weather apps on your mobile device. However, limited impacts will occur to the following services:
