                                    ***An impressive stretch of record warmth across northern and eastern Maine***

 

Record high temperatures were either tied or broken Saturday, September 23, 2017.  The high at Caribou, Maine of 82 degrees tied the previous record last set in 2003.  At Houlton, the high of 84 degrees tied the record high set in 1965.  At Bangor, the high of 85 degrees broke the previous record of 80F, set in 1989. 

Record high temperatures were broken on Sunday, September 24, 2017.  The high at Caribou of 85 degrees broke the previous record of 80F last set in 1963.  It also established the latest 85F temperature on record at Caribou.  At Bangor, the high of 89 degrees broke the previous record of 88F, set in 1930.  At Houlton, the high of 87 degrees broke the previous record of 81F, set in 1958.  At Millinocket, the high of 87 degrees broke the previous record of 86F, set in 1920.

Record high temperatures were tied or broken on Monday, September 25, 2017.  At Bangor, the high of 88F tied the record high that was established in 1930.  At Caribou, the high of 88F broke the record of 83F in 2007.  It was the warmest temperature ever observed so late in the season at Caribou.  At Millinocket, the high of 86F broke the previous record of 84F set in 1920.  At Houlton, the high of 87F broke the previous record high of 82F set in 1970.  It was the warmest high temperature ever observed so late in the season at Houlton.  

Record high temperatures were broken on Tuesday, September 26, 2017.  At Caribou, the high of 88F broke the previous record of 81F in 2007.  It was the warmest temperature ever observed so late in the season.  At Millinocket, the high of 90F broke the previous record of 87F set in 2007.  It was the warmest temperature ever observed so late in the season. It was the latest 90F temperature ever observed by more than 2 weeks.  The old record for the latest 90F temperature was on September 10, 2002 when the high was 96F.  At Houlton, the high of 90F broke the previous record of 85F set in 2007.  It was the warmest temperature ever observed so late in the season.  It was also the latest 90F temperature ever observed by more than 2 weeks.  The old record for the latest 90F was on September 10, 2002, when the high was 92F. 

There were four consecutive days with a high of 80 degrees or warmer at Caribou.   This smashed the old record of 2 consecutive days (so late in the season) with a high of 80F or warmer on September 25-26, 2007.  There were a total of 8 days this September with a high of 80F or warmer at Caribou.  This ties with 1999 for the most 80 degree days during the month of September.
