Dangerous Heat Continues in the East; Heavy Rain and Flash Flooding in the Southwest, Plains, and Upper Midwest

Prolonged and intense heat wave continues into Friday with relief expected by this weekend. The most significant cumulative heat impacts are anticipated across the Mid-Atlantic through Thursday and eastern Ohio Valley through Friday.   • February 2025 featured temperatures a few degrees below normal.
  • There was quite a bit of variability in precipitation and snowfall across the region, but it generally trended around to slightly above normal.
  • Winter 2024-2025 had a lot of ups and downs in terms of temperatures, generally trending around to slightly above average overall.
  • Winter precipitation was around to slightly above average, but snowfall was generally below average with some of the warmer temperatures.
  • The latest 8-14 day climate outlook favors above normal temperatures and above normal precipitation for mid-March.
  • There are equal chances for above, below, or around normal temperatures and precipitation for March-May 2025.
