Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop off of the higher terrain of Idaho and Montana early this afternoon and then spread east to northeast over the surrounding valleys through the evening hours tonight. While these showers and thunderstorms will be on the dry side and produce little to no rainfall at a given locations, strong and erratic wind gusts in excess of 55 mph will be possible beneath any shower or storm that is in the process of collapsing. Those working or recreating outdoors should be prepared to seek shelter should a thunderstorm approach, along with being aware of surrounding hazards like trees or loose items that can be blown down or around.
It is going to get a bit warm over the next few days over portions of North Central MT. Afternoon highs of 95 to 100 degrees will be common. Thus a heat advisory has been issued for portions of North Central MT. Have a plan to seek cooler areas during peak heating.
