Tropical Moisture Brings Heavy Rain to Southwest; Strong Coastal Low to Impact the East Coast

Deep tropical moisture surging into the Southwest U.S. will lead to widespread showers and thunderstorms capable of producing flash flooding the next several days. Wet mountain snow is expected to fall across the higher terrain late Saturday night through Monday morning. Here are the probabilities for 9” of heavy snow along the mountain passes. Falling temperatures can cause initial melting snow to freeze onto roadways and bridges, making them icy. Use caution when traveling this weekend over mountain passes. #MTwx
A wetter and colder weekend is on tap for the region. Scattered to widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms arrive Saturday. The main hazard will be locally heavy rainfall causing burn scar flooding or minor flooding in poor drainage areas if a heavy shower moves overhead. Falling snow levels Sunday and Monday morning can allow for some light snow to mix down to the lower elevations. #MTwx
