Heavy Rainfall and Severe Thunderstorm Threats for the Plains and Southeast

A frontal boundary extending from the western High Plains to the Southeast will focus additional showers and thunderstorms this weekend. The Portales NOAA Weather Radio transmitter continues to experience technical difficulties, and the outgoing audio broadcast has been severely degraded and, at times, completely unavailable.

Coordination with technicians is ongoing, and we hope to have these issues resolved as soon as possible. However, broadcasts from this NOAA Weather Radio transmitter may remain intermittent or unavailable for several more days. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

The Portales NOAA Weather Radio transmitter, station WXJ-35, broadcasts on a frequency of 162.475 Megahertz and serves Curry and Roosevelt counties in east central New Mexico.
