...CHANGES TO MINOR FLOOD THRESHOLDS AT TWO FORECAST LOCATIONS
FORTHCOMING...
In April and May of 2023 both the Jemez River near Jemez Springs
and the Rio Chama near Chamita forecast locations experienced
minor flood impacts that occurred when the river stages were
below what we had previously set as a minor flood stage. Due to
this, and in coordination with emergency managers and the West
Gulf River Forecast Center, WFO ABQ is going to lower the flood
thresholds at these two locations. At the Jemez river site, the
stage for minor flooding will be lowered to 7 feet from 8 feet and
at the Rio Chama site the minor flood threshold will be lowered
to 6 feet from 8 feet.
