Tallapoosa County Tornado - April 11, 2007

National Weather Service meteorologists surveyed storm damage in Dadeville. It has been determined that the damage was the result of a tornado. The tornado has been rated an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale with estimated maximum winds around 90 mph.
A tornado touched down at the intersection of Lafayette Street and Fulton Street...on the northeast side of US Highway 280 in Dadeville. The tornado tracked east southeast for about 1 mile...and lifted just past the railroad tracks and Woodyard Street. The tornado damage path was 50 yards wide at its widest point. At least three homes were damaged due to numerous uprooted trees. Spencer Lumber Company... located at the corner of Fulton Street and Oak Street...sustained damage including roof damage to metal sheds on their property. The highest winds were estimated at 90 mph...or an EF1 tornado. The tornado was on the ground from approximately 518 PM until 520 PM. A Tornado Watch was in effect for Tallapoosa County from 411 PM until 10 PM. A Tornado Warning was in effect from 430 PM until 600 PM.
