Dangerous Heat Wave from the Midwest to East Coast

A large ridge of high pressure extending from the Central to Eastern U.S. will deliver a dangerous summer heat wave through the weekend. Widespread excessive heat warnings and heat advisories already cover the Eastern two-thirds of the country. A number of record highs and overnight warm minimum temperatures are likely. The CARIBE WAVE/LANTEX 11 tsunami exercise is being conducted to assist tsunami preparedness efforts throughout the Caribbean region. The purpose of the exercise is to improve Tsunami Warning System effectiveness along the Caribbean coasts. The exercise provides an opportunity for emergency management organizations throughout the Caribbean to exercise their operational lines of communications, review their tsunami response procedures, and promote tsunami preparedness.
