A large area of low pressure extending from Wyoming southwest to the 4 Corners area of the Desert Southwest will maintain an unsettled weather pattern across Wyoming and western Nebraska through this evening.  While rainfall and precipitation across southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska is not expected to be as heavy as what we saw yesterday.  Snow above 8500 ft elevation will gradually end through this evening.

 

 

 

 

 

With the exception of some showers and a few thunderstorms, the threat for heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding has ended for Southeast Wyoming.

What/When/Where: 

Clock free iconLate This Afternoon/Evening:  Showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue. Snow will gradually taper off above 8000 feet in the southeast Wyoming mountains.

 

 

Raindrops falling of a black cloud Free IconAmounts: While amounts are not expected to be as heavy as Saturday, there is the potential that some showers and isolated thunderstorms today could bring an additional quarter to half inch of precipitation to areas that have streams and creeks running near bankful with saturated grounds.  We can expect to see an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow in the mountains through late this afternoon.

 

 

Impacts: Minimal due to rain on snowmelt, with the risk for flash flooding low for much of southeastern Wyoming.

 

 

 

When flooded turn around don't drownRiver and Creek Level Forecasts and Observations:  With the threat for additional precipitation this afternoon and evening, we can expect to see elevated levels on area streams, creeks and rivers to continue.  Additional rises are expected for the North Platte River and the Laramie River.  The latest river observations and forecasts are available here
