Atmospheric River Bringing Heavy Rain to Southern California and Heavy Snow to the Sierra Nevadas

A strong atmospheric river will continue heavy rain over southern California through Friday. The heaviest rainfall is ongoing today in the Los Angeles Basin. Flash and urban flooding is possible. A prolonged heavy snowfall has begun over the Sierra Nevada Mountains and will continue through Friday. Travel will become increasingly difficult over the passes due to snow and strong winds. Overview

Showers and thunderstorms brought significant rainfall to the area on June 14th and 15th. Although severe weather was limited, some areas received over three inches of rain. The highest report so far was 3.14" near Dazey, ND. There were three areas in eastern North Dakota that receieved over two inches of rain: just southeast of Devils Lake, in Griggs/northern Barnes County, and in southern Grand Forks County. A funnel cloud was reported in Wilkin County at 840 PM on June 14th.
