Overview

A low pressure system moved into the northern plains from the west, and synoptically supported frontogenesis set up mesoscale snow banding across the region. Snow totals ranged from a trace to an inch on either side of the band, to 11 inches inside the band in the central Red River Valley. A blizzard followed in the Red River Valley, as winds picked up from the north during and after the snowfall.
