A line of severe thunderstorms tracked across parts of central and east central Wisconsin during the afternoon hours of July 23. It brought a swath of damaging winds and heavy rain. Additional storms in the evening and overnight hours brought more rain to much of the area, except far northern Wisconsin.

On Lake Winnebago, the gusty winds create a seiche, a temporary disturbance or oscillation in the water level of a lake or partially enclosed body of water, especially one caused by changes in atmospheric pressure. This caused the water to oscillate for several hours.
