Overview

Clusters of thunderstorms, including a few supercells, moved southeastward across northern into eastern Wisconsin during the morning and early afternoon within an extremely warm and unstable environment. An EF-3 tornado rapidly developed around Noon in the Appleton area, and moved south through Fox Crossing and Menasha with estimated peak winds around 140 mph before reaching Lake Winnebago. Damage occurred to many homes and businesses, in addition to significant tree damage. In addition, wind damage occurred across northern Wisconsin, including parts of Vilas, Oneida, and Forest Counties. Downed trees and power lines were reported in several communities, including in the Eagle River, Hiles and Three Lakes areas. Several reports of hailstones in excess of 2 inches were received, including a report of hail over 4 inches in diameter in Shawano County near Gresham. |

Tornadoes
