The National Weather Service is collecting comments on the proposed discontinuation of the terms "Advisory", "Special Weather Statement" and "Short Term Forecast."  In their place, the National Weather Service is proposing the use of generic, plain-language statements to convey information for lower-level hazardous events that are not expected to reach the "Watch" or "Warning" level. All "Watch" and "Warning" products, used to highlight hazards that pose a threat to life an property, would remain the same.
