PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON OH 449 PM EDT THU MAY 2 2002 ...TORNADO IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY... A TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN IN NORTH CENTRAL FAIRFIELD COUNTY NEAR THE TOWN OF BALTIMORE AT APPROXIMATELY 1247 AM. THE TORNADO TOPPED OFF SOME TREES AND KNOCKED DOWN A FEW POWER POLES. CURRENT INDICATIONS ARE THAT THE TORNADO WAS AN F0 (40 TO 72 MPH). THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING AT 1231 AM FOR FAIRFIELD COUNTY...WHICH WAS UPGRADED TO A TORNADO WARNING SHORTLY AFTERWARDS. $$ TIPTON |
