Heavy rain and isolated severe thunderstorms may cause flash flooding in the northern Mid-Atlantic today. ...TORNADO CONFIRMED IN RIPLEY COUNTY...

A NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STORM SURVEY HAS DETERMINED THAT A
TORNADO OCCURRED IN WESTERN RIPLEY COUNTY ON FRIDAY JULY 30 AROUND
717 PM EST. THE TORNADO SKIPPED ALONG A TWO MILE PATH FROM SOUTHWEST
OF HOLTON INTO HOLTON...WITH A WIDTH OF 350 TO 400 FEET. THE DAMAGE
FROM THIS TORNADO WAS RATED F2 ON THE FUJITA SCALE. WINDS THAT CAUSE
F2 DAMAGE ARE ESTIMATED TO BE FROM 113 TO 157 MPH.
