Heavy Great Lakes Snow through Friday; Extreme Cold and Potential for Major Winter Storm Late Week into this Weekend

Multiple clipper systems will bring cold temperatures and enhance lake-effect snow downwind of the Great Lakes. An arctic blast will bring frigid temperatures accompanied with gusty winds that may lead to dangerous wind chills beginning in the Northern Plains Thursday before expanding to the South and East. ...TORNADO CONFIRMED IN CLARK COUNTY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CONDUCTED A STORM SURVEY TODAY
NORTHEAST OF SPRINGFIELD IN CLARK COUNTY. DAMAGE OCCURRED
APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES NORTHEAST OF THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD. THE
TORNADO OCCURRED BETWEEN 1105 PM AND 1115 PM TUESDAY EVENING. THE
DAMAGE OCCURRED IN A LOCATION OFF OF MOOREFIELD ROAD...JUST EAST OF
ROUTE 4. TREES WERE EITHER UPROOTED OR WERE SNAPPED OFF TOWARD THE
TOPS WITH ADDITIONAL LARGE BRANCHES DOWN FROM OTHER TREES. SOME
MINOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE OCCURRED AS WELL. THE DAMAGE PATH WAS
APPROXIMATELY 250 YARDS LONG. THIS DAMAGE WAS CONSISTENT WITH AN
EF0 (ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE ZERO)...WITH WIND SPEED ESTIMATES ROUGHLY
BETWEEN 60 TO 80 MPH.
