Round 5 of Severe Weather - Wednesday Evening

The final round of thunderstorms developed during the afternoon hours in southern Illinois. It raced east-northeast through Indiana, reaching Wilmington's county warning area (CWA) at around 5:30 PM. The main line of storms was responsible for widespread wind damage and a further aggrivation of flooding concerns. Storm cell interactions within the line helped produce rotation in a few spots, including southern Dearborn County in Indiana, where a tornado touched down. Rotation was also evident in numerous small supercell storms which developed out in front of the line near the Ohio River. One storm produced a tornado in northeast Pendleton County in Kentucky.

Radar Pictures From Event #5
At 5:55 PM, reflectivity data (left) showed the main line of storms extending north-northwest from the Ohio River through parts of eastern Indiana. Additional storm cells had developed south of this line, and began interacting and merging with other cells. Storm relative motion data (right) shows the results of one such interaction -- a rotational couplet of inbound (green) and outbound (red) winds in southern Dearborn County. Shortly after this frame was taken, a weak tornado touched down in the same area.
At 6:21 PM, reflectivity data (left) showed the main line of storms moving across far northern Kentucky and southwestern Ohio. In front of this line, a few supercell thunderstorms developed near the Ohio River. The crescent-shaped hook echoes are fairly obvious. Storm relative motion data (right) indicates rotation with a few of these cells as well. The cell near the center of the image in Pendleton County produced a tornado at around the same time as this image.
At 6:59 PM, reflectivity data (left) showed the line of storms continuing to move quickly across southwest Ohio. Velocity data (right) confirmed very strong winds, with the leading edge showing up particularly well across western Clinton county.
