Heavy Great Lakes Snow through Friday; Extreme Cold and Potential for Major Winter Storm Late Week into this Weekend

Multiple clipper systems will bring cold temperatures and enhance lake-effect snow downwind of the Great Lakes. An arctic blast will bring frigid temperatures accompanied with gusty winds that may lead to dangerous wind chills beginning in the Northern Plains Thursday before expanding to the South and East. Severe Weather and Tornadoes


A semi-cohesive line of storms that initially formed over parts of Illinois and Indiana early in the afternoon progressed east into east-central Indiana and west-central Ohio by the evening hours. Bowing segments within the line allowed for some strong wind gusts to make it down to the surface. Circulations developed along the segment of the line that moved through Preble and Montgomery counties, with three tornadoes confirmed.
