Widespread Rain from Texas to the Central Appalachians; Heavy to Excessive Rainfall in Southern California and the Southwest

Scattered thunderstorms and widespread showers are expected from the Texas coast to the central Appalachians today. Heavy to excessive rainfall will continue in southern California into the Desert Southwest through Saturday. Severe Weather and Tornadoes


A semi-cohesive line of storms that initially formed over parts of Illinois and Indiana early in the afternoon progressed east into east-central Indiana and west-central Ohio by the evening hours. Bowing segments within the line allowed for some strong wind gusts to make it down to the surface. Circulations developed along the segment of the line that moved through Preble and Montgomery counties, with three tornadoes confirmed.
