Dangerous Heat and Heavy Rainfall into the Weekend

Hot temperatures and high humidity are forecast to continue across the mid-Mississippi Valley into this weekend. Heat Advisories remain in effect. Heavy to excessive rainfall occurring at times through the weekend could bring areas of flooding to parts of the northern Rockies, upper Midwest, central Great Lakes, and southern New England. Freezing Rain/Ice
During the late evening hours on February 24th into the early morning hours on February 25th, a solid shield of precipitation moved through the region. With surface air temperatures still below freezing for many locations near/north of I-70, this precipitation fell as freezing rain, accreting on all surfaces, especially elevated ones such as trees and powerlines. Further south, it was just warm enough to be just plain rain.
