Survey Summary:
The National Weather Service in Wilmington Ohio has confirmed an
EF-2 tornado south of Catawba in Clark County Ohio.
The first evidence of damage from this tornado occurred on Vernon
Asbury Road, where some trees were downed. As the tornado moved
east, passing just south of Catawba, it rapidly strengthened.
Additional tree damage was observed in a field west of OH-54. In
addition to some tree damage, two outbuildings were destroyed on
OH-54. To the south of this damage, the most significant damage
occurred at a residence which had its roof completely lifted off
and an attached garage was destroyed. Winds at this residence are
estimated to be around 115 mph, which corresponds to EF-2 on the
Enhanced Fujita Scale. Additional tree damage was observed along
McConkey Road and Broadgauge Road, and the tornado is believed to
have dissipated shortly after.
Tree damage was also observed in the village of Catawba, just
north of the track of the tornado. The damage within the village
was determined to be a result of straight-line winds.
