Public Information Statement National Weather Service Wilmington OH 455 PM EDT Thu Aug 27 2026 ...NWS Damage Survey for August 11 2026 Event... Straight-line winds confirmed across Franklin County OH. Survey Summary: The National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio has confirmed a large area of straight-line winds across much of Franklin County, Ohio. This occurred during the morning of August 11, 2026. Areas impacted by the winds include Hilliard, Dublin, Worthington, Upper Arlington, Gahanna, Whitehall, Reynoldsburg, and Blacklick Estates. A wind gust of 70 mph was observed at the Ohio State University Airport, and a wind gust of 82 mph was observed at the John Glenn Columbus International Airport. Given these observations, a significant amounts of damage across Franklin County was caused by straight-line winds of 60-80 mph, with the highest winds of 90-100 mph occurring in localized areas. In addition, three fast moving but weak tornadoes have been confirmed in Franklin County within this large area of straight-line winds. Given the numerous reports of damage across the county, these tornadoes were confirmed where damage indicators provided clear evidence of a tornadic circulation. Unless additional information is received, this is the final assessment for the damage observed in Franklin County, Ohio.
