Survey Summary:
The National Weather Service in Wilmington Ohio has confirmed an
intense swath of straight-line winds across portions of
southwestern Highland County and northern Brown County in Ohio.
This occurred during the afternoon of August 11, 2026.

Areas impacted by the winds include areas near Buford and 
Mowrystown in Highland County, and areas near Sardinia and 
Fincastle in Brown County. Some of the roads that were impacted 
include State Route 321, State Route 134, Gath South Road, Kay 
Road, Bells Run Road, Mowrystown Sardinia Road, Katterman Road, 
and Five Points Fincastle Road.

This was a wide swath of intense straight-line winds, estimated 
to be up to 90 MPH.

The National Weather Service would like to thank the Highland 
County and Brown County Emergency Management Agencies for their 
assistance and damage reports.
