Details:

  1. 4/3/1956:  Originally touched down in east central Moultrie County southwest of Arthur, then moved northeast into Douglas County south of Arthur.
  2. 6/12/1957:  Intermittant 1 mile tornado path through Tuscola, causing minor damage.
  3. 5/6/1960:  Originally touched down near Mattoon, then moved northeast near Oakland into extreme southeast Douglas County.  The tornado lifted at times along the track.
  4. 3/6/1961:  This tornado caused damage along a 32 mile path across Douglas and Vermilion Counties.  Two trailers were overturned in Tuscola, resulting in two injuries. Three boxcars were overturned near Camargo, and farm buildings were damaged near Villa Grove.
  5. 3/11/1962:  Data unknown on this tornado.
  6. 4/22/1963:  This tornado touched down just east of Tuscola, after passing over the town as a funnel cloud aloft.  It roughly paralleled U.S. route 36 all the way past the Indiana border, and was on the ground for about 42 miles overall.
  7. 12/15/1971:  This tornado touched down in Coles County northwest of Charleston, and moved northeast 12 miles into Douglas County between Hindsboro and Oakland.
  8. 8/10/1974:  This tornado touched down 1/2 mile west of Tuscola, and took an intermittant path to near Pesotum, in southern Champaign County. 
  9. 6/1/1980:  This tornado moved through Tuscola along its one mile path.  Six trailers were destroyed, and 35 homes and 4 other trailers were damaged.
  10. 6/2/1987:  Touched down just northeast of Hindsboro, causing damage to outbuildings and farm equipment.
  11. 5/15/1990:  Brief touchdown near Tuscola.
  12. 6/2/1990:  Brief touchdown southwest of Arcola.
  13. 6/20/1990:  This tornado touched down near Pesotum (Champaign County), then moved into Douglas County to near Villa Grove.  The worst damage was along the Champaign County path.
  14. 8/16/1993:  Brief touchdown 4 miles north of Garrett.
  15. 4/26/1994:  Touched down 2 miles southwest of Arcola, blowing over 3 outbuildings.
  16. 4/7/1998:  This tornado originally touched down in Moultrie County, 2 miles south of Cadwell, and moved northeast into Douglas County about 4 miles south of Arthur.  20 homes, 6 barns, and other outbuildings were destroyed in the Douglas County segment.  It lifted near the small town of Bourbon.
  17. 4/7/1998:   Brief touchdown 2 miles north of Hindsboro, destroying a machine shed.
  18. 4/7/1998:   Touched down 3 miles northwest of Hindsboro, damaging several outbuildings and power poles.
  19. 4/7/1998:   Brief touchdown 2 miles south of Newman.
  20. 4/20/2004:  Touched down 4 miles north-northwest of Tuscola, and was on the ground for about 3 miles before moving into Champaign County. 
  21. 5/31/2006:  Brief touchdown in a field 3 miles north-northwest of Tuscola.
  22. 5/31/2006:  Touched down 5 miles north-northwest of Tuscola and was on the ground for 1 mile, moving through open fields.
  23. 5/31/2006:  Touched down 7 miles north-northwest of Tuscola and was on the ground for 1 mile, moving through open fields.
  24. 5/31/2006:  Originally touched down in Champaign County, before travelling 1 mile in Douglas County, approximately 8 miles northwest of Tuscola.
  25. 5/31/2006:  Brief touchdown 1 mile southwest of Villa Grove.
  26. 11/17/2013:  This was part of a 10 tornado outbreak in central Illinois. This tornado moved in from Moultrie County about 5 miles north of Arthur, and caused damage in and southwest of Garrett.  Click here for more details.
  27. 11/17/2013:  This strong tornado touched down about 4 miles northwest of Tuscola, and moved northeast before crossing into Champaign County about 1.5 miles northwest of Villa Grove.  Click here for more details.
  28. 11/17/2013:  This tornado touched down along I-57 near mile marker 216, then moved northeast before being absorbed by the tornado referenced in the previous entry.  This particular tornado destroyed 3 outbuildings and damaged the roofs of 2 homes.  Click here for more details.
