Cold Front Moving Through the Northeast U.S. Monday; Atmospheric River to Impact the Pacific Northwest Midweek

A cold front will cross the Great Lakes and Northeast U.S. through Monday with gusty winds and areas of rain showers. A strong atmospheric river is expected to move into the Pacific Northwest by midweek bringing a threat for moderate to heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and mountain snows for parts of Washington, Oregon, northern California, and the Sierra Nevada. Tornadoes and Strong Straight Line Winds Impact Southeast Louisiana and Coastal Mississippi April 4, 2011

A strong upper level disturbance brought a line of severe thunderstorms containing tornadoes and damaging straight line winds to Southeast Louisiana and Coastal Mississippi during the evening hours on April 4th.

At this time, 6 tornadoes have been confirmed from this event. Damage in Laplace was determined to be from strong straight line winds. The tornadoes have been determined to range in strength from EF0 to EF1 after NWS storm surveys were conducted.
