Dangerous Fire Conditions in the Southern High Plains; Severe Weather in the Central Plains and Upper Midwest; Late-Season Mountain Snow

Dry and windy conditions will produce dangerous fire weather conditions across the southern High Plains into the Southwest. Severe storms, including very large hail, strong tornadoes, and winds, are expected in the central Plains into the Upper Midwest. The Lower Mississippi River Forecast Center is located in Slidell, Louisiana, and is co-located with the New Orleans/Baton Rouge Weather Forecast Office. Our office is open seven days a week, 365 days a year, from 6am to 10pm. During times of active flooding, our office is staffed 24 hours a day.

We provide daily river forecasts for locations on the lower Mississippi River and its tributaries. This includes over 200 forecast locations across a 210,000 square mile area.
