Flooding Threat Continues in Portions of Texas; Poor Air Quality in the Great Lakes through the Mid-Atlantic

Widespread life-threatening flash and urban flooding continues in south-central Texas, with considerable flooding impacts possible across central Texas. Wildfire smoke is impacting air quality across much of the Great Lakes region into southern New England and the Mid-Atlantic. The Lower Mississippi River Forecast Center is located in Slidell, Louisiana, and is co-located with the New Orleans/Baton Rouge Weather Forecast Office. Our office is open seven days a week, 365 days a year, from 6am to 10pm. During times of active flooding, our office is staffed 24 hours a day.

We provide daily river forecasts for locations on the lower Mississippi River and its tributaries. This includes over 200 forecast locations across a 210,000 square mile area.
