A front will bring gusty northerly winds and a chance for light rain Saturday night, lasting into Sunday. Expecting wind gusts of 40-50 mph with local gusts to 60 mph for the mountains and wind-prone areas. Winds will be lighter for the coasts and valleys, with gusts of 20-30 mph. Gusty, gale force winds will also create dangerous ocean conditions during this time, with large seas in excess of 10 feet and gale force winds over the outer waters. Winds of 20-30 kt are expected over the southern inner waters as well. Rainfall totals are very low, 0.05 to 0.20 inches, with the highest rainfall totals are expected for the Santa Lucia mountains. Southern areas like the city of Los Angeles will see little to no rainfall.
Santa Ana Winds will develop Sunday night, lasting into Monday over Los Angeles and portions of Ventura County. Wind gusts will be strong over the LA County mountains with gusts of 50 to 60 mph, with gusts of 30 to 50 mph expected for the remaining Santa Ana wind prone areas. These winds combined with very dry air will lead to dangerous fire weather conditions, and there is a Fire Weather WATCH in effect 7PM Sun - 6PM Mon for most of LA Co & the Eastern Ventura Valleys. Rapid fire growth and extreme fire behavior could threaten life/property. Use extra caution with any source of spark or flame! Report any sighting of smoke or fire.
