Fall Colors 2015 in WaukeshaIn less than a week, Autumn will official be here! First day of Autumn is September 22, 2016. When you think of Autumn, what do you think about? Pumpkin spiced food and drinks? Cooler temperatures (my personal favorite!)? Most of you probably think of the changing of leaves to vibrant reds, yellows, and oranges. Most call it the "Fall Colors."

In southern Wisconsin, usually the peak time to view the Fall Colors ("Peak Week") is about mid October. Weather conditions play a significant role in the timing of the leaves changing color, such as temperature and rainfall. For example, a wet and cool summer can cause the colors to develop earlier than a hot and dry summer.
