Madison finally experienced its first freeze of the cold season (31 degrees) on Wednesday morning, November 9, 2016. This was the 2nd latest first freeze on record for Madison. The latest first freeze occurred on November 12, 1946.

Milwaukee also finally experienced its first freeze of the cold season (32 degrees) on Saturday morning, November 12, 2016.
This was tied for the 5th latest first freeze on record for Milwaukee. The latest first freeze occurred on November 24th, 1931.

We have discontinued our frost/freeze advisories and warnings for this season, since we are way past the typical first freeze date, and the growing season is over.

It has been one of the warmest summers and autumns (so far) on record. It was the 5th warmest June, July, August season in Milwaukee. The September to October time period ranked 3rd warmest in Milwaukee and 8th warmest in Madison
