Coastal Threats for the East and Gulf; Record Warmth for the Central U.S.

Southern Wisconsin was in a warmer than normal weather pattern for mid April, thanks to the Omega Block.  What is normal for mid April temperatures?  Where do we rank right now?

 

For Madison:

Temperatures the past few days have been running above normal, but not quite reaching record values.  The normal high temperature for mid April is 57 to 59 in Madison.  The average high temperature so far this April (through the 18th) is 54.1 degrees.  This does not even crack the top 50 warmest when compared with the past 100 years.  In fact, the first part of April was warmer last year (2015) than it is this year.

For Milwaukee:

Temperatures were above normal the past few days, but were nowhere near record values.  The normal high temperature for mid April is 53 to 56 in Milwaukee.  The average high temperature so far this April (through the 18th) is 49.8 degrees.  As with Madison, this average does not even crack the top 50 warmest when compared with the past 100 years.  Once again, the first part of April was warmer last year (2015) than it is this year.
