Widespread Showers in the Eastern US; Severe Thunderstorms in the Plains; Heatwave in the Desert Southwest

Widespread showers and thunderstorms across much of the central and eastern U.S. will produce areas of excessive rainfall, especially in the southern Mid-Atlantic states. Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected from Montana into portions of the central/southern Plains this weekend. The National Weather Service is experimenting with a new easier to read tabular format of our Great Lakes Open Waters and Nearshore Marine Forecasts. The target audience for these products are users of marine weather information, including the commercial marine community, recreational boating community, and other government agencies including the US Coast Guard.

These experimental easy to read tabular forecasts are available on the following website:
