Cold Front Moving Through the Northeast U.S. Monday; Atmospheric River to Impact the Pacific Northwest Midweek

A cold front will cross the Great Lakes and Northeast U.S. through Monday with gusty winds and areas of rain showers. A strong atmospheric river is expected to move into the Pacific Northwest by midweek bringing a threat for moderate to heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and mountain snows for parts of Washington, Oregon, northern California, and the Sierra Nevada. Please join us in welcoming Ben Schott to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee!  He has been selected at the new Meteorologist in Charge and will be starting at the office the week of August 8th, 2016.  Ben is currently the Meteorologist in Charge at the NWS in Binghamton, NY.  Previously, he held the position of Warning Coordination Meteorologist at both Memphis, TN and in Great Falls, MT.  He worked as a Lead Forecaster at WFO Northern Indiana; and a General Forecaster at both Louisville, KY and Morristown, TN.  Benjamin worked two years at KOMO-TV in Seattle, WA producing the weather.  He is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served for just under six years as a weather and oceanographic observer and forecaster.  Benjamin attended Purdue University and the University in Washington in Seattle and is originally from northern Indiana.
