Dangerous Heat and Heavy Rainfall into the Weekend

Hot temperatures and high humidity are forecast to continue across the mid-Mississippi Valley into this weekend. Heat Advisories remain in effect. Heavy to excessive rainfall occurring at times through the weekend could bring areas of flooding to parts of the northern Rockies, upper Midwest, central Great Lakes, and southern New England. Please join us in welcoming Ben Schott to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee!  He has been selected at the new Meteorologist in Charge and will be starting at the office the week of August 8th, 2016.  Ben is currently the Meteorologist in Charge at the NWS in Binghamton, NY.  Previously, he held the position of Warning Coordination Meteorologist at both Memphis, TN and in Great Falls, MT.  He worked as a Lead Forecaster at WFO Northern Indiana; and a General Forecaster at both Louisville, KY and Morristown, TN.  Benjamin worked two years at KOMO-TV in Seattle, WA producing the weather.  He is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served for just under six years as a weather and oceanographic observer and forecaster.  Benjamin attended Purdue University and the University in Washington in Seattle and is originally from northern Indiana.
