Severe Thunderstorms in the Central U.S.; Heavy to Excessive Rainfall in the Ohio Valley and Central Appalachians

Severe thunderstorms producing damaging winds, hail, and a few tornadoes are expected through Tuesday across parts of the central Plains and lower to mid Missouri Valley. Please join us in welcoming Ben Schott to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee!  He has been selected at the new Meteorologist in Charge and will be starting at the office the week of August 8th, 2016.  Ben is currently the Meteorologist in Charge at the NWS in Binghamton, NY.  Previously, he held the position of Warning Coordination Meteorologist at both Memphis, TN and in Great Falls, MT.  He worked as a Lead Forecaster at WFO Northern Indiana; and a General Forecaster at both Louisville, KY and Morristown, TN.  Benjamin worked two years at KOMO-TV in Seattle, WA producing the weather.  He is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served for just under six years as a weather and oceanographic observer and forecaster.  Benjamin attended Purdue University and the University in Washington in Seattle and is originally from northern Indiana.
