Extreme Heat and Excessive Rainfall Today

Dangerous and extreme heat will remain across portions of the southern U.S. through the weekend. A heat wave over the Southwest U.S. will intensify this week, peaking and expanding into the Intermountain West and northern High Plains this weekend. Ocoee RAWS site information


 

This U.S. Forest Service site is located in Polk County on Chilhowee Mountain at an elevation of 1836 feet MSL. This station is in a fairly flat and open field with good exposure to the winds in all directions. There are no topographical features nearby which might obstruct or affect the large-scale winds, and the trees surrounding the field are around 100 feet away from the RAWS.
