Severe Thunderstorms in the Northeast and Northern Plains; Critical Fire Weather in the West

Scattered severe thunderstorms capable of damaging wind gusts and hail are forecast across the Northeast U.S. and North Dakota today. Heavy to excessive rainfall is possible over eastern New Mexico into western Texas and over the western Florida peninsula today. Ocoee RAWS site information


 

This U.S. Forest Service site is located in Polk County on Chilhowee Mountain at an elevation of 1836 feet MSL. This station is in a fairly flat and open field with good exposure to the winds in all directions. There are no topographical features nearby which might obstruct or affect the large-scale winds, and the trees surrounding the field are around 100 feet away from the RAWS.
