A warming trend is anticipated starting today through the upcoming weekend. High temperatures are forecast to climb into the mid to upper 90s across interior portions of the Bay Area (East Bay and southern Santa Clara Valley). This level of heat affects most individuals sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts possible in some health systems and in heat-sensitive industries.
A warming trend is anticipated through the weekend with many interior regions potentially seeing in excess of 90 degree high temperatures on Friday and Saturday. Far interior sections may see high temperatures as great as 101 degrees. This will translate to pockets of Moderate HeatRisk, across the interior North Bay, interior East Bay Hills, and Santa Clara Valley (including San Jose). Moderate HeatRisk means that most individuals (especially if you work outside) will be impacted by heat, especially if you don’t have adequate cooling and/or adequate hydration.
Moderate HeatRisk is expected in areas of Contra Costa County and southern San Jose today, and across the interior portions of the East and South Bay Friday through Sunday. This corresponds to a moderate risk of heat-related illnesses for people sensitive to heat, including children, the elderly, pregnant women, and those who work or live outdoors. Drink plenty of water, wear light colored clothing, and stay in the shade!
