NWS Pueblo Computer System Upgrade Outage June 3rd through June 5th, 2025

The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Pueblo, Colorado will be conducting a required, scheduled update to their Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) system from 6 AM MDT Tuesday June 3rd, 2025 through 6 PM MDT Thursday June 5th, 2025. The NWS uses the AWIPS computer system to display and integrate weather and water information, and to send life-saving information, such as weather and water warnings, to the public.

During the time of the update, forecast operations will be conducted by our NWS service back-up office in Boulder, Colorado to minimize any potential interruption to services. No impacts to our core services of forecast products and weather watches, warnings and advisories are expected during this period. However, limited impacts will occur to the following services:

  • NOAA Weather Transmitters: All NOAA Weather Radio transmitters maintained by NWS Pueblo will be off air through the time of the install.  This includes the following transmitters WXM-52 for the Pueblo area, WXM-54 for Alamosa and the San Luis Valley, WXM-56 for the Colorado Springs area, KJY-81 for the Canon City area, WNG-579 for the Walsenburg area, WWG-23 for the La Junta area, WWG-44 for the Fowler area, KWN-60 for the Lamar area, and WNG-664 for the Springfield area. All NOAA Weather Radio broadcast products, including severe weather and flood warnings, as well as weather forecasts for south central and southeast Colorado will be available on our homepage: weather.gov/pub. Severe weather warnings for your locale will still be sent through the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) System and other weather apps.

NWS Pueblo will remain open and staffed throughout this period for public and partner phone calls and additional functions that can be completed without AWIPS.
