Thunderstorms and Heavy Rains Across Portions of the Central and Eastern US; Heat Expands to Portions of the East

Widespread showers and thunderstorms, some severe, may produce heavy downpours and flash flooding across much of the eastern and central U.S. Dangerous heat will continue in the Pacific Northwest and expand across portions of the East. The National Weather Service in Pueblo, in conjunction with the Boulder weather office, has been conducting a storm survey of the tornado damage in El Paso County today. Preliminary estimates are that 2 to possibly 3 tornadoes touched down in extreme northeast EL Paso County, each with an estimated strength of EF0.  No structures were damaged in the area, however there was some damage to trees and a sign.  These findings are preliminary and further investigation will continue with possible refinement as more information comes in.
