Dangerous Heat Continues in the East; Heavy Rain and Flash Flooding in the Southwest, Plains, and Upper Midwest

Prolonged and intense heat wave continues into Friday with relief expected by this weekend. The most significant cumulative heat impacts are anticipated across the Mid-Atlantic through Thursday and eastern Ohio Valley through Friday. The National Weather Service in Pueblo, in conjunction with the Boulder weather office, has been conducting a storm survey of the tornado damage in El Paso County today. Preliminary estimates are that 2 to possibly 3 tornadoes touched down in extreme northeast EL Paso County, each with an estimated strength of EF0.  No structures were damaged in the area, however there was some damage to trees and a sign.  These findings are preliminary and further investigation will continue with possible refinement as more information comes in.
