Heat Wave in the Eastern US; Heavy Rain in the Ohio Valley

Dangerous, long-lasting heat is expected across portions of the Central and Southeast U.S. Showers and thunderstorms, some severe, may produce heavy rain and localized areas of flash flooding across parts of the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys into the Appalachians. A record wet Spring and early Summer of 2015, especially across eastern Colorado, helped to boost precipitation totals and brought an end to a multi-year drought across the southeast Plains. However, a fairly dry and hot late Summer and early Fall helped to level out the years precipitation totals, and with only one month left in the year, it looks like 2015 will miss out on being the wettest year on record across most of south central and southeast Colorado.
