Major Hurricane Erin is tracking just north of the lower Bahamas today. Dangerous surf and rip current threats increase this week for most of the Atlantic coastline. Erin's outerbands may impact the Outer Banks later this week. 2016 started out relatively warm and dry across much of south central and southeast Colorado before late January and early February storm systems brought cooler and abundant precipitation to the area. March of 2016 was warm and dry with a very wet and generally cool April and May helped to make the Spring of 2016 the 4th and 6th wettest Spring period in Colorado and Pueblo, respectively. June and July of 2016 were warm and dry across much of the area, save for spotty thunderstorms, one of which on July 28th produced widespread baseball sized hail in Colorado Springs causing more than 350 million dollars in damage claims. The summer monsoon came alive at the end of July through much of August, before a very warm and dry Fall season (warmest and driest Fall Season on record in Colorado Springs and warmest Fall Season record n Pueblo) was experienced across most of south central and southeast Colorado.
