The month of December was very warm and dry across south central and southeast Colorado, save for one passing storm system at the beginning of the month, which did bring some rain and snow to the area. For the month as a whole, well above seasonal temperatures was experienced across all of south central and southeast Colorado, with generally below seasonal precipitation, save for spotty areas of at to slightly above normal precipitation across the southeast mountains and plains.

The preliminary average temperature in Alamosa for the past month of December was 29.3 degrees. This is an amazing 11.2 degrees above normal and makes December of 2025 the warmest December on record In Alamosa, crushing the previous warmest December of 1980,  when the average monthly temperature was 28.1 degrees. The average December maximum temperature in Alamosa was 47.7 degrees, which is 12.3 degrees above normal.  The average December minimum temperature in Alamosa was 11.0 degrees, which is 10.2 degrees above normal.  Alamosa recorded 0.15 inches of precipitation through the month of December. This is 0.20 inches below normal and makes December of 2025 the 35th driest December on record.  Alamosa recorded 2.1 inches of snow in December, which is 2.5 inches below normal.   Alamosa set six daily record high temperatures in December, including a 63F day on December 19th, which ties the record high temperature for the month of December of 63F set on December 30, 2017.  (ALS POR: 1932-2025   

 

The preliminary average temperature in Colorado Springs for the past month of December was 41.0 degrees. This is an amazing 9.3 degrees above normal and makes December of 2025 tied with December of 1933 as the warmest December on record. The average December maximum temperature in Colorado Springs was 55.4 degrees, which is 10.8 degrees above normal. The average December minimum temperature in Colorado Springs was 26.6 degrees, which is 7.9 degrees above normal. Colorado Springs recorded 0.36 inches of precipitation through the month of December. This is 0.13 inches above normal and makes December of 2025 the 42nd wettest December on record.  Colorado Springs recorded 4.9 inches of snow in December, which is 0.8 inches above normal.  Colorado Springs set 5 daily record high temperatures through the month of December, including a new record high temperature of 71F on Christmas Day.     (COS POR: 1894-2025)      

 

The preliminary average temperature in Pueblo for the past month of December was 39.5 degrees. This is an amazing 7.8 degrees above normal and makes December of 2025 the 4th warmest December record in Pueblo. This remains behind the warmest December of 1889, when the average December temperature was 42.2 degrees. The average December maximum temperature in Pueblo was 57.6 degrees, which is 10.1 degrees above normal. The average December minimum temperature in Pueblo was 21.3 degrees, which is 5.4 degrees above normal. Pueblo recorded 0.57 inches of precipitation through the month of December. This is 0.28 inches above normal and makes December of 2025 the 37th wettest December on record.  Pueblo recorded 7.4 inches of snow in December, which is 2.8 inches above normal. Pueblo set 5 daily record high temperatures through the month of December, including a new record high temperature of 75F on Christmas Day.    (PUB POR: 1888-2025)  

 

Looking ahead into January in Alamosa, the average high and low temperatures of 33 degrees and -2 degrees on January 1st, warm to 37 degrees and 2 degrees by the end of the month.  The average temperature for the month of January in Alamosa is 16.8 degrees.  Alamosa averages 0.32 inches of precipitation and 4.5 inches of snow through the month of January. On average, January is the coldest month of the year in Alamosa.            

In Colorado Springs, the average high and low temperatures of 44 degrees and 18 degrees on January 1st, warm to 45 degrees and 19 degrees by the end of the month. The average temperature for the month of January in Colorado Springs is 31.7 degrees.  Colorado Springs averages 0.29 inches of precipitation and 4.9 inches of snow through the month of January.  On average, January is tied with December as the coldest month of the year in Colorado Springs.         

In Pueblo, the average high and low temperatures of 47 degrees and 15 degrees on January 1st, warm to 49 degrees and 17 degrees by the end of the month. The average temperature for the month of January in Pueblo is 31.9 degrees. Pueblo averages 0.29 inches of precipitation and 4.9 inches of snow through the month of January.   On average, January is tied with December as the driest month of the year in Pueblo.
