July of 2025 saw a meandering ridge of high pressure across the Rockies, which brought periods of warm and dry conditions, as well as cooler and wetter periods, with periods of severe weather and heavy monsoon rainfall across south central and southeast Colorado.  For the month as a whole, at to slightly below normal temperatures and generally below normal precipitation, save  pockets of above normal precipitation across the plains, were experienced across south central and southeast Colorado.  

The following graphics depict monthly temperature and precipitation departures from normal across the state for the past month of July.

 

The preliminary average temperature in Alamosa for the past month of July was 64.8 degrees. This is 0.5 degrees below normal and makes July of 2025 tied as the 46th coldest July on record. This remains well ahead of the coldest July of 1938, when the average July temperature was 61.5 degrees. The average July maximum temperature in Alamosa was 83.7 degrees, which is 0.4 degrees above normal. The average July minimum temperature in Alamosa was 46.0 degrees, which is 1.3 degrees below normal.  Alamosa recorded 0.68 inches of precipitation through the month of July. This is 0.36 inches below normal and makes July of 2025 the 32nd driest July on record. This is well ahead of the driest July of 2023 when only 0.01 inches of precipitation was recorded in Alamosa.  (ALS POR: 1932-2024   

 

The preliminary average temperature in Colorado Springs for the past month of July was 71.5 degrees. This is 0.9 degrees below normal but still makes July of 2025 tied as the 38th warmest July on record. This remains well behind the warmest July of 2003, when the average July temperature was 75.8 degrees. The July average maximum temperature in Colorado Springs was 86.3 degrees, which is 0.2 degrees below normal. The average July minimum temperature in Colorado Springs was 56.8 degrees, which is 1.4 degrees below normal. Colorado Springs recorded 1.95 inches of precipitation through the month of July. This is 1.17 inches below normal and makes July of 2025 the 39th driest on record. This remains well above the driest July of 2008, when only 0.28 inches of precipitation was recorded in Colorado Springs.  (COS POR: 1894-2024)      

 

The preliminary average temperature in Pueblo for the past month of July was 77.1 degrees. This is 0.1 degrees below normal but still makes July of 2025 tied as the 44th warmest July on record. This remains well behind the warmest July of 2003, when the average July temperature was 81.2 degrees. The average July maximum temperature in Pueblo was 94.2 degrees, which is 0.8 degrees above normal. The average July minimum temperature in Pueblo was 60.0 degrees, which is 1.0 degrees below normal. Pueblo recorded 1.34 inches of precipitation through the month of July. This is 0.55 inches below normal and makes July of 2025 the 52nd driest July on record. This remains well ahead of the driest July of 1987 when only 0.09 inches of precipitation was recorded in Pueblo.   (PUB POR: 1888-2024)  

 

Looking ahead into August in Alamosa, the average high and low temperature of 83 degrees and 48 degrees on August 1st, cool to 79 degrees and 43 degrees by the end of the month. The average temperature for the month of August in Alamosa is 63.2 degrees.  Alamosa averages 1.29 inches of precipitation through the month of August.  On average, August is the wettest month of the year in Alamosa.           

In Colorado Springs, the average high and low temperature of 86 degrees and 49 degrees on August 1st, cool to 82 degrees and 54 degrees by the end of the month.  The average temperature for the month of August in Colorado Springs is 70.1 degrees.  Colorado Springs averages 2.96 inches of precipitation through the month of August.          

In Pueblo, the average high and low temperature of 92 degrees and 62 degrees on August 1st, cool to 88 degrees and 56 degrees by the end of the month. The average temperature for the month of August in Pueblo is 74.8 degrees.  Pueblo averages 2.11 inches of precipitation through the month of August.  On average, August is the wettest month of the year in Pueblo.
