February Weather Review

Upper level ridging remained in place across the region through most of the month of February, bringing periods of very warm and dry conditions to south central and southeast Colorado. A few passing weather systems also brought some precipitation and colder temperatures to the region.  For the month as a whole, well above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation were  experienced across south central and southeast Colorado, save for pockets above normal precipitation across the southeast pains.

The preliminary average temperature in Alamosa for the past month of February was 32.4 degrees. This is 8.1 degrees above normal and makes February of 2026 the 5th warmest February on record In Alamosa. This is remains behind the warmest February of 2025,  when the average February temperature was 34.1 degrees. The average February maximum temperature in Alamosa was 52.8 degrees, which is 11.5 degrees above normal.  The average February minimum temperature in Alamosa was 12.1 degrees, which is 4.7 degrees above normal.  Alamosa recorded 0.27 inches of precipitation through the month of February. This is 0.01 inches below normal but still makes February of 2026 tied as the 24th wettest February on record.  Alamosa recorded 1.5 inches of snow in February, which is 2.6 inches below normal.  (ALS POR: 1932-2026)    

The preliminary average temperature in Colorado Springs for the past month of February was 41.8 degrees. This is 8.4F above normal and makes February of 2026 the warmest February on record, surpassing the average February temperature of 41.1F set in 1954.  The average February maximum temperature in Colorado Springs was 56.5 degrees, which is 10.0 degrees above normal. The average February minimum temperature in Colorado Springs was 27.2 degrees, which is 7.0 degrees above normal. Colorado Springs recorded 0.05 inches of precipitation throughout the month of February. This is 0.27 inches below normal and makes February of 2026 tied as 11th driest February on record in Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs saw 0.2 inches of snow in the month of February. This is 4.4 inches below normal and makes February of 2026 tied as the 4th least snowiest February on record.  (COS POR: 1894-2026)      

The preliminary average temperature in Pueblo for the past month of February was 42.8 degrees. This is 7.7 degrees above normal and makes February of 2026 the 3rd warmest February record in Pueblo, just behind the average temperature of 43.9F in February of 1954, and the average temperature of 43.3F in February of 1930. The average February maximum temperature in Pueblo was 62.6 degrees, which is 11.5 degrees above normal. The  average February minimum temperature in Pueblo was 23.0 degrees, which is 4.0 degrees above normal. Pueblo recorded 0.42 inches of precipitation throughout February. This is 0.10 inches above normal and makes February of 2026 tied as the 44th wettest February on record in Pueblo. Pueblo did not record any snow throughout the month of February. This is 4.7 inches below normal and makes February of 2026 the least snowiest February on record in Pueblo. Pueblo also set a new daily and monthly record high temperature of 83F on February 24th.   (PUB POR: 1888-2026)  

Looking ahead into March in Alamosa, the average high and low temperatures of 47 degrees and 13 degrees on March 1st, warm to 547 degrees and 21 degrees by the end of the month.  The average temperature for the month of February in Alamosa is 35.2 degrees.  Alamosa averages 0.51 inches of precipitation and 4.3 inches of snow through the month of March.             

In Colorado Springs, the average high and low temperatures of 50 degrees and 23 degrees on March 1st, warm to 58 degrees and 31 degrees by the end of the month. The average temperature for the month of March in Colorado Springs is 41.1 degrees.  Colorado Springs averages 0.79 inches of precipitation and 5.7 inches of snow through the month of March.  On average, March is the snowiest month of the year in Colorado Springs.  

In Pueblo, the average high and low temperatures of 55 degrees and 23 degrees on March 1st, warm to 65 degrees and 31 degrees by the end of the month. The average temperature for the month of March in Pueblo is 43.9 degrees. Pueblo averages 0.82 inches of precipitation and 4.5 inches of snow through the month of March.
