Upper level ridging remained in place across the region through much of the month of January, bringing periods of very warm and dry conditions to south central and southeast Colorado. A few passing weather systems also brought precipitation and colder temperatures to the region, especially across Eastern Colorado, which saw an Arctic airmass move across the plains towards the end of the month.  For the month as a whole, above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation were  experienced across south central and southeast Colorado, save for pockets of  below normal temperatures and above normal precipitation across the southeast pains.

The preliminary average temperature in Alamosa for the past month of January was 23.4 degrees. This is 6.6 degrees above normal and makes January of 2026 the 11th warmest January on record In Alamosa. This is remains behind the warmest January of 2003,  when the average January temperature was 26.4 degrees. The average January maximum temperature in Alamosa was 42.7 degrees, which is 7.9 degrees above normal.  The average January  minimum temperature in Alamosa was 4.0 degrees, which is 5.1 degrees above normal.  Alamosa recorded 0.33 inches of precipitation through the month of January. This is 0.01 inches above normal and makes January of 2026 tied as the 26th wettest January on record.  Alamosa recorded 7.0 inches of snow in January. This is 2.5 inches above normal and makes January of 2026 tied as the 18th snowiest on record. Alamosa set one daily record high temperature, one daily record precipitation and 2 daily record snowfalls through out the month of January.  (ALS POR: 1932-2026   

 

The preliminary average temperature in Colorado Springs for the past month of January was 31.8 degrees, which is 0.1F above normal.  The average January maximum temperature in Colorado Springs was 45.3 degrees, which is 0.3 degrees above normal. The average January minimum temperature in Colorado Springs was 18.4 degrees, which is 0.1 degrees below normal. Colorado Springs recorded 1.02 inches of precipitation and 16.2 inches of snow through the month of January. This is 0.73 inches and 11.3 inches above normal, respectively, making January of 2026 the 3rd wettest and 2nd snowiest January on record, behind the wettest and snowiest January of 1987 when 1.17 inches of precipitation and 28.7 inches of snow was recorded in Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs set one daily record high temperature and two daily record precipitation and snowfalls through the month of January.  (COS POR: 1894-2026)      

 

The preliminary average temperature in Pueblo for the past month of January was 33.6 degrees. This is 1.7 degrees above normal and makes January of 2026 tied as the 37th warmest January record in Pueblo. This remains behind the warmest January of 1953, when the average monthly temperature was 40.1 degrees. The average January maximum temperature in Pueblo was 50.2 degrees, which is 1.8 degrees above normal. The  average January minimum temperature in Pueblo was 16.9 degrees, which is 1.5 degrees above normal. Pueblo recorded 0.44 inches of precipitation and 5.5 inches of snow through the month of January. This is 0.15 inches and 0.6 inches above normal, respectively, making January of 2026 the 37th wettest and 48th snowiest January on record.  Pueblo set a daily precipitation and snowfall through the month of January.   (PUB POR: 1888-2026)  

 

Looking ahead into February in Alamosa, the average high and low temperatures of 37 degrees and 2 degrees on February 1st, warm to 47 degrees and 13 degrees by the end of the month.  The average temperature for the month of February in Alamosa is 24.3 degrees.  Alamosa averages 0.28 inches of precipitation and 4.1 inches of snow through the month of February. On average, February is the driest month of the year in Alamosa.            

In Colorado Springs, the average high and low temperatures of 45 degrees and 19 degrees on February 1st, warm to 50 degrees and 23 degrees by the end of the month. The average temperature for the month of February in Colorado Springs is 33.4 degrees.  Colorado Springs averages 0.32 inches of precipitation and 4.6 inches of snow through the month of February.           

In Pueblo, the average high and low temperatures of 49 degrees and 17 degrees on February 1st, warm to 55 degrees and 22 degrees by the end of the month. The average temperature for the month of January in Pueblo is 35.1 degrees. Pueblo averages 0.32 inches of precipitation and 4.7 inches of snow through the month of February.
