May Weather Review

May of 2026 started out cool and wet, with a passing system bringing well below seasonal temperatures. along with showers across the plains and higher terrain snowfall in the May 5th-6th timeframe. Ridging into the middle of the month brought warm and dry dry conditions, with a few passing systems bringing periods of unsettled weather and cooler temperatures through the end of the month.

The preliminary average temperature in Alamosa for the past month of May was 51.9 degrees. This is 0.2 degrees above normal and makes May of 2026 the 31st warmest May on record in Alamosa, well behind the warmest May of 2020,  when the average temperature was 56.0 degrees. The average May maximum temperature in Alamosa was 71.6 degrees, which is 1.8 degrees above normal.  The average May minimum temperature in Alamosa was 32.2 degrees, which is 1.4 degrees below normal.  Alamosa recorded 0.28 inches of precipitation through the month of May. This is 0.32 inches below normal and makes May of 2026 the 30thd driest May on record.  Alamosa recorded a trace of snow through the month of May, which is 0.8 inches below normal.  This brings the final 2025-26 seasonal snowfall tally in Alamosa to 11.1 inches, which is 16.8 inches below normal and makes the 2025-2026 snow season the 6th lowest on record in Alamosa.  (ALS POR: 1932-2026)    

The preliminary average temperature in Colorado Springs for the past month of May was 56.2 degrees. This is 0.9F below normal but still makes May of 2026 the 46th warmest May on record, well behind the warmest May of 2018 when the average temperature was  62.2F.  The average May maximum temperature in Colorado Springs was 69.0 degrees, which is 1.7 degrees below normal. The average May minimum temperature in Colorado Springs was 43.4 degrees, which is 0.9 degrees below normal. Colorado Springs recorded 0.95 inches of precipitation throughout the month of May. This is 1.04 inches below normal and makes May of 2026 the 30th driest May on record. Colorado Springs recorded 1.4 inches of snow in May, which is 0.8 inches above normal.  This brings the final 2025-26 seasonal snowfall tally in Colorado Springs to 26.1 inches, which  is 6.4 inches below normal. (COS POR: 1895-2026)    

The preliminary average temperature in Pueblo for the past month of May was 61.4 degrees, which is normal.  This also makes May of 2026 the 41st warmest May on record, well behind the warmest May of 2018, when the average temperature was 67.4F. The average May maximum temperature in Pueblo was 76.7 degrees, which is 0.5 degrees below normal. The average May minimum temperature in Pueblo was 46.0 degrees, which is 0.4 degrees above normal. Pueblo recorded 0.91 inches of precipitation in May. This is 0.66 inches below normal and makes May of 2026 the 40th driest May on record. Pueblo recorded 0.5 inches of snow in May, which is 0.5 inches above normal.  This will bring the final 2025-26 seasonal snowfall tally in Pueblo to 14.1 inches, which is 14.2 inches below normal and makes the 2025-26 snow season the 10th least snowiest on record in Pueblo. Looking ahead into June in Alamosa, the average high and low temperatures of 76 degrees and 37 degrees on June 1st, warm to 83 degrees and 45 degrees by the end of the month.  The average temperature for the month of June in Alamosa is 60.6 degrees.  Alamosa averages 0.43 inches of precipitation through the month of June.             

In Colorado Springs, the average high and low temperatures of 77 degrees and 49 degrees on June 1st, warm to 86 degrees and 56 degrees by the end of the month. The average temperature for the month of June in Colorado Springs is 67.2 degrees.  Colorado Springs averages 2.27 inches of precipitation through the month of June.           

In Pueblo, the average high and low temperatures of 84 degrees and 51 degrees on June 1st, warm to 93 degrees and 59 degrees by the end of the month. The average temperature for the month of June in Pueblo is 71.8 degrees. Pueblo averages 1.28 inches of precipitation through the month of June.
