Here are some basic severe storm safety rules...

- When a severe storm threatens, with high winds and lightning, get indoors in a modern, enclosed building or a metal-topped vehicle.

- While in a modern, enclosed building, go to a place away from windows, electrical appliances, plumbing, and corded telephones.

- Get off reservoirs and lakes.  High winds can capsize boats, and lightning is a huge risk while on or in water.

- To help others when you experience severe weather, which is one inch diameter hail or larger, winds greater than 58 mph, or a tornado, contact local law enforcement and ask them to relay your information to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.
