Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
256 PM EDT Mon May 12 2025

.DISCUSSION...

An upper level low tracking to the north and east out of the
Lower Mississippi valley will bring widespread rainfall to the
region over the next 3 to 4 days. This will lead to possible
flooding for our area starting today, and continuing through
Tuesday night, especially along the Blue Ridge where upslope
flow will lead to higher rainfall totals.

As the upper level low lifts north of the region on Thursday
and Friday, more isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms
are expected both days.

Given the widespread rainfall expected this week, there are
minimal fire weather concerns at this time.
