Thunderstorms and Heavy Rains Across Portions of the Central and Eastern US; Heat Expands to Portions of the East

Widespread showers and thunderstorms, some severe, may produce heavy downpours and flash flooding across much of the eastern and central U.S. Dangerous heat will continue in the Pacific Northwest and expand across portions of the East. The upcoming warm weather will bring some people to the water this weekend and next week.  But please be aware; the water temperatures are still cold--sudden immersion can cause Cold Water Shock.  It is easy to underestimate the danger of swift running water in rivers and streams. Wether you are floating down a stream or bobbing on a lake—wear your life jacket!
