Elevated to locally critical fire weather conditions will continue across portions of the Southern Plains and Southeast today due to gusty winds and low humidity. The upcoming warm weather will bring some people to the water this weekend and next week.  But please be aware; the water temperatures are still cold--sudden immersion can cause Cold Water Shock.  It is easy to underestimate the danger of swift running water in rivers and streams. Wether you are floating down a stream or bobbing on a lake—wear your life jacket!
